School Social Worker (SSW)
Department: School Staffing Division
Reports to: SPED Program Manager
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Pay Grade: Hourly
Summary of Position
At MJ Care, our mission is simple: support students so they can fully access their education and thrive in the school environment. As a school-based Social Worker, you’ll play an active, hands-on role in supporting students throughout their school day. You’ll provide direct services aligned with students’ IEPs, behavioral support plans, or other individualized support plans, while working closely with teachers, administrators, families, and fellow service providers to support students’ emotional well-being, social development, behavioral success, and overall access to learning.
This role is embedded within the rhythm of a school—balancing direct student interaction, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and consistent documentation to support student progress and compliance. You’ll participate in team meetings, contribute to planning and progress discussions, and adapt your approach based on individual student needs and the evolving priorities of the school environment. The goal is to support students’ social-emotional functioning, behavioral regulation, coping skills, and school participation so they can more fully engage in their educational environment.
At MJ Care, you’re not stepping into this work alone. You’ll be supported by a team that understands school-based services, values clear communication, and prioritizes doing right by both clinicians and the students they serve. We focus on building strong relationships—with our associates and our school partners—so you can focus on what matters most: making a meaningful impact in students’ day-to-day lives.
