Position Summary The Revenue Cycle Coordinator in Training supports daily revenue cycle operations with a focus on accurate front-end processes, effective coordination with our outsourced billing partner and ensuring maximum collections for the organization. This developmental role is designed to build foundational skills and progressively increase responsibilities, with the goal of transitioning into the full Revenue Cycle Coordinator position within approximately two years.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Accurately register patients and verify insurance eligibility using hospital information systems.
Support timely and correct charge capture from clinical departments.
Review and resolve coding questions and work items in hospital systems.
Scrub and prepare claims before submission to our outsourced billing partner.
Monitor key revenue cycle performance indicators, including accounts receivable aging, denial reports, charge lag, and DNFB (Days Not Final Billed).
Work closely with our outsourced billing partner on denial follow-up, appeals, payment posting, and patient statements.
Perform analysis of accounts receivable to identify trends and improve processes.
Provide oversight of accounts receivable activities to ensure optimal collections and maximum reimbursement to the organization.
Ensure compliance with applicable coding, billing, and regulatory requirements.
Identify and resolve billing and registration errors that impact reimbursement.
Assist with payer contract reviews and payment variance analysis.
Participate in process improvement initiatives to reduce denials, improve cash flow, and maximize collections.
Document revenue cycle processes and assist with training of other staff.
Take on increasing responsibility over time in preparation for full Revenue Cycle Coordinator duties.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field preferred.
Minimum of two years of experience in medical billing, patient registration, or revenue cycle operations.
Working knowledge of hospital information systems (including MedHost) and revenue cycle processes.
Familiarity with insurance verification, charge capture, claims processing, and accounts receivable management.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Willingness to learn and grow into the full Revenue Cycle Coordinator role
