Company Overview
Our client provides outsourced finance operations and advisory for founders, CEOs, and CFOs. They support clients with services like bookkeeping, reporting, forecasting, and tax/compliance â helping leaders run their businesses with clearer numbers and stronger execution.
The team is lean and distributed, with HQ in Austin, TX. The company is early-stage and focused on building repeatable execution as client volume grows. This role exists to bring structure, clarity, and operational leverage.
Your Role
Weâre hiring an Operations Manager to professionalize and scale internal operations across service delivery, team execution, and client workflows.
This is a high-ownership generalist role. Youâll build processes, create operating rhythms, and keep execution moving â but youâll also jump into whatever needs doing (sales, marketing, support, product, internal ops). The clientâs words: you should be willing to âmop the floor.â
Accounting experience is not required. If you have it, great â but the priority is operational leadership, systems thinking, and the ability to drive outcomes in ambiguous environments.
The clientâs top preference
Theyâd love to hire someone who has been a founder (or early operator) at a previous unicorn startup â someone who has lived through real scale and can build systems fast.
Youâll:
Build an operating picture of âhow work flows todayâ (people, tools, handoffs, bottlenecks)
Implement a lightweight operating rhythm (weekly priorities, check-ins, escalation paths, follow-up)
Standardize delivery workflows across core services (intake â execution â review â client delivery)
Create and maintain SOPs, checklists, and templates that reduce errors and rework
Improve client onboarding and recurring touchpoints so delivery is predictable and proactive
Set up tracking/dashboards so leadership can answer âwhere are we on X?â quickly
Partner closely with leadership and functional leads to prioritize, unblock, and drive execution
Step into cross-functional needs as required (sales support, marketing ops, customer support processes, product/ops coordination)
You Bring:
Founder / early operator experience in a high-growth startup environment (unicorn experience strongly preferred)
Demonstrated ability to operate across functions (sales, marketing, support, product, ops) â and willingness to do unglamorous work when needed
Strong process and project management skills (SOPs, checklists, operating rhythms, dashboards)
AI proficiency: comfortable using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT/Claude/Copilot) to draft, summarize, analyze, and automate routine work
Excellent written and spoken English (clear async communication)
High ownership + low ego: you follow through, you fix whatâs broken, and you donât wait to be asked
Strong judgment and ability to prioritize under deadlines
Bonus Points:
Experience in finance/accounting/tax operations (helpful, not required)
Experience supporting distributed teams across time zones
Comfort with tools like Notion, Google Workspace, Slack, Asana/Jira, or similar systems
Whatâs Offered:
Remote role with US Central Time overlap required
Competitive USD compensation (based on experience)
High-autonomy, high-impact position with direct partnership with the Founder / Managing Director
Interview Process
1ď¸âŁ Recruiter / intro screen â background, motivation, communication
2ď¸âŁ Hiring manager interview â examples of systems youâve built + how you run execution
3ď¸âŁ Practical exercise â design a 30-day operating plan + tracker for a services team
4ď¸âŁ Final conversation â leadership alignment and expectations
đ´ Important Note
This role is built for a hands-on operator. If you prefer narrow scope, heavy structure, or strategy-only work without execution ownership, it will not be a fit.
