SITA Lawyers as Navigators:
Navigating the complexity of rules & regulations and the turbulence of unwanted risks and liabilities
Suggesting ways to avoid the biggest bumps and scrapes
Sharing the burden of making informed decisions
Ensuring SITA comes to safe landings.

A Legal Counsel at SITA is:
A fully autonomous lawyer in one or more domains (a domain being a BU, a Geography/Region, a specific area of Law or legal practice)
With other ad hoc responsibilities in SITA Legal outside of those domains
Who has regular engagement with external parties (customers, suppliers, regulators, industry players) relative to the domains
And is involved ad hoc in SITA projects where the primary value brought may not be only “legal” (bringing grounded business experience
For THIS role – Manager, Trade & Ethics, what is the scope and responsibility
A key member of the Trade & Ethics Team, reporting to the Director, Trade & Ethics
The Trade & Ethics Team has global responsibility for: (i) advising SITA’s business on applicability of sanctions & export controls, and the associated compliance requirements; (ii) advising also on risks of, and mitigation measures related to, economic crime (fraud, corruption etc); and (iii) managing with care SITA’s whistleblowing hotline, and the associated triage of cases and investigatory steps
The Manager, Trade & Ethics has particular responsibility for the whistleblowing hotline and for the decision-making process for the engagement of market third parties (sales agents, in-country delivery partners etc). The role also includes engagement across the remit of the Trade & Ethic Team and within SITA Legal as a whole
The role requires significant direct engagement with colleagues across SITA’s business units and geographies as well as with management – clear, concise and empathetic communications skills in English (written and oral) are a must, as is the ability to guide and influence
The role requires a high degree of organization and the ability to report (verbally and in written and presentational material) with clarity on the work undertaken in the team
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE
A Legal Counsel at SITA therefore has:
Minimum 3-5 years corporate law experience essential;
Solid experience in a domain and/or broad experience over more than one domain,
The ability to take an autonomous role in the domain
Bring influence and not just legal expertise and authority
Strong international experience international orientation managing multiple service providers and different legal systems world-wide.

Given the legal & regulatory context of the work of the Trade & Ethics Team, legal qualifications and background are ideal. Nevertheless, other qualifications together with highly relevant experience in the domain will be well considered
