Job Summary: The Child Welfare Supervisor is responsible to supervise, lead, administer, and coordinate Child Protective Services (CPS) and Child Welfare services within the Youth Division. Supervisor will also provide after-hours consultation to workers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Recruits, hires, and trains case managers/social workers as well as provide regular and consistent supervision of those staff in the performance of their assigned duties.
Provides case consultation to staff and monitoring staff’s compliance with State Statutes and Administrative Rules.
Develops the on-call schedule, trains staff in the on-call protocol, and is available to staff after hours for consultation.
Approves staff flex schedule, compensatory time, and PTO. Supervisor is required to prepare employee evaluations and develop performance improvement plans to address areas of challenge. Supervisor will be a part of any complaint process filed by staff as well as any process of discipline.
Reviews and approves reports required for all functions including access reports, initial assessments, safety plans, case plans, court documents, permanency plans, and case note documentation.
Develop team meeting agendas, assigns cases in a timely fashion, and participates in case transfers, and internal staffing and multidisciplinary staffing as needed.
Provides individual and group supervision to monitor performance and facilitate professional development.
Serves as a liaison to law enforcement, schools, legal system, medical, mental health/AODA systems, and the community to educate and enhance relationships necessary in the delivery of the Youth Division.
Implement and evaluate CPS programs, policies and procedures to assure programs are designed to meet changing needs of the community. Communicates with program and policies to the community and staff. Represents the agency in meetings related to CPS.
May be required to perform on-call duties during business hours and after hours.
Write grant proposals to provide additional funds for services.
Carries a small caseload of CPS related cases, if necessary.
Assists management in the developments of the Annual Budget.
Preform all other duties as assigned.
Work Requirements:
Bachelor's of Social Work degree (BSW) from four-year college or university, preferred; or Bachelor's Degree and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
