We are seeking part- and full-time Fitness Specialists to support our vibrant community. This dynamic role combines fitness instruction, resident transportation, program support, and concierge services to promote an active, engaging, and welcoming lifestyle. The ideal candidate is energetic, dependable, customer-focused, and enjoys working with older adults in a team-oriented environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead safe, engaging fitness and wellness programs within the facility; encourage participation and track attendance.
Conduct group classes and individual fitness support, adapting to varying ability and mobility levels.
Assist with resident wellness assessments and goal setting.
Maintain fitness equipment and areas in clean, safe, and ready condition.
Support planning, setup, and execution of resident events and wellness programs.
Assist Fitness Manager and Resident Life team with operational tasks.
Provide concierge coverage and general resident support.
Provide occasional shuttle support as needed.
Assist with community communications, including newsletters.
Maintain CPR/AED and fitness certifications; complete ongoing training.
Ensure resident safety and respond appropriately to emergencies.
Attend meetings, trainings, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED required.
CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required.
Valid Virginia driver’s license; ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and extended shifts.
National fitness certification (ACSM, NSCA, AFFA, ACE) preferred; group fitness certifications (e.g., SilverSneakers, Chair One) strongly preferred.
1 - 2 years of fitness experience preferred, ideally working with older adults in healthcare, assisted living, memory support, or CCRC settings.Strong knowledge of safe exercise modifications, fall prevention, and age-related physical limitations.
Ability to lead inclusive, resident-centered programs supporting varying cognitive and physical abilities.
Excellent communication, documentation, computer skills, and ability to follow instructions accurately.
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build trust, encourage participation, and support resident independence and dignity.
Ability to recognize and escalate changes in resident condition; sound judgment and discretion required.
Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams in a supportive, team-oriented environment.
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist residents with standing, walking, and mobility-related tasks.
